Set in a park, 10 miles north of the city of Milan, Monza is Europe's oldest permanent circuit still in use. It is 3.585 Miles / 5.793 km in length and even though chicanes now infiltrate on three fast sections, the sweeping corners and long straights make this the fastest circuit on the Formula 1 as well as the WTCC calendar.

It is one of the most historic motor racing circuits in the world.

The circuit is flat, with little variation in elevation, and regarded as a track which tests horsepower rather than driver skills. This is not the case when it comes to WTCC racing. Here the relatively equal cars put all focus on the drivers ability to get the most out of the available potential. A cool head and a talent for clean lines is a must here... as is the ability and the nerve to go extremely deep into the braking zones.

On slower and more narrow tracks drivers can make their cars wide and make overtaking virtually impossible for long stretches of the track, but at Monza there are no such breathing rooms. It's all nailbiting head to head action. This could be the track where you will feel the heat of the incredible AI drivers the most, they will do their best to rattle you from start to finish.

Alessandro Zanardi – BMW Team Italy-Spain

“This is the best result I have had since I joined the championship, so of course I am extremely happy. History shows the BMW cars are strong and consistent in races [...] I hope the rain will not make an appearance tomorrow - I’m an Italian, I don’t like the rain!”

Rober Huff – Chevrolet

“It’s always good to be the fastest in the team because your team-mates are the guys you compare yourself with seeing as we have exactly the same machinery. I hope it’s wet tomorrow [...] but we have to be realistic, this is our weakest track and anything can happen”

Pierre-Yves Corthals – JAS Motorsport

“The Honda is a really good car but I need to get to know it better. At the moment every time I go out I am getting faster and faster so it is just a case of familiarisation and practice.”

Yvan Muller, SEAT Sport France

“I am tired! The first race was good but the second race was amazing. In each of the nine laps something was happening, it was incredibly tough”

James THOMPSON - SEAT Sport UK

““The car is fantastic on the tyres which makes up for its aerodynamic problems [...] I have done a lot of touring car racing in my time and race 2 today was the craziest I’ve been involved in for a long time. Regarding the incident with Dirk (Müller) and Andy (Priaulx); I was in the middle, Dirk moved to the right into me, hit me and so I hit Andy and then they both fired off into the barrier”

Alain Menu - Chevrolet

“The car was competitive with the help of slipstreams and it felt good. I had a little problem with the starts of both races but with the slipstreaming being so important here I managed to get back some positions”

Andy PRIAULX – BMW Team UK

“We got bunched up so I went wide and stayed on the racing line on the exit. I was just driving forward and the next thing I know I got a massive hit on the rear left which turned me round and we ran out of road and went straight into the barriers”
